Chrome Delete in Clovis, CA
Factory chrome grilles, badges, window trim and mirror caps blacked out in matte, gloss or satin.

Blacked-Out Trim in Clovis, Wrapped and Reversible
Bright trim breaks a car up. Cover it and the shape reads as one piece, which is why a chrome delete changes how a vehicle looks far more than the size of the job suggests. We are a Clovis shop, so this is home turf, and the cars we do most are trucks, Teslas and anything with heavy window trim. Where a chrome delete goes wrong is always the edges. Trim vinyl flat against the paint and the exposed edge eventually catches a pressure washer or a car wash brush and starts creeping. We take pieces off the vehicle instead so the film wraps around the back with nothing left to grab. That is the difference between a job that still looks right in year three and one that does not. Gloss, satin and matte black cover most of what people want, and we can go to a color if black is not it. Start with the window trim or take the grille, badges, mirror caps and roof rails as well. Most are done in one to three days and everything comes off cleanly with heat if you change your mind.

Pick Which Chrome Goes And What Replaces It
Start with the window trim, which is the chrome most people notice first, or take the grille, badges, mirror caps and roof rails as well. Gloss, satin and matte black cover most of it, and we can go to a color instead if black is not the look.
Wrapped In Vinyl, Never Painted Over
Paint and powder coating are permanent decisions on parts that are expensive to replace. Vinyl comes off with heat and leaves the factory chrome exactly as it was, so you can change the finish later or hand a lease back with nothing to explain.
Edges Tucked, Not Cut On The Paint
Where a chrome delete fails is always an edge. We take pieces off the car rather than trimming flat against the paint, so the vinyl wraps around the back with nothing exposed for a pressure washer or a car wash brush to catch.
Paint Protection Film VS Ceramic Coating
PPF and Ceramic Coating both enhance protection, yet serve distinct purposes. PPF is a thick film safeguarding against physical damage like stone chips and scratches, while Ceramic Coating, a liquid polymer, provides a glossy, hydrophobic layer resisting minor scratches, UV damage, and simplifying cleaning. Each offers unique protective benefits for your vehicle.

We Are Here To Help
Every bright trim piece you want covered gets wrapped in vinyl, usually in black, so the chrome stops drawing the eye and the car reads as one color.
The usual list is window trim, door handles, grille accents, badges, mirror caps and roof rails. You do not have to do all of it. Plenty of people only ever do the window trim, because that is the chrome that stands out most on a dark car.
It is done piece by piece rather than as one sheet, and anything that can come off the car comes off, so the vinyl wraps around the back of the trim instead of stopping at a visible edge.
It comes down to how many pieces you want covered and how intricate the trim is on your particular vehicle. A window trim blackout is the cheapest way in. A full de-chrome taking in the grille, badges, mirror caps and roof rails costs considerably more.
We quote per vehicle rather than a flat rate, because a Tesla Model 3 and a crew cab truck are very different amounts of work. Most chrome deletes take one to three days, so it is a drop-off job.
Send us your year, make and model and we'll price it exactly. You can see the finishes on our chrome delete in Clovis page.
One to three days. The number of pieces matters less than how much has to come off the car to wrap them properly.
Window trim on its own is usually a one day job. A full de-chrome that takes in the grille, badges, roof rails and mirror caps runs closer to three, because removing and refitting those parts is most of the work.
Our shop is in Clovis, so plan to drop the car off. We will give you a firm number once we have seen the vehicle rather than guessing from the model.
Yes. The vinyl comes off with heat and the original chrome is sitting untouched underneath.
That is the main reason to wrap trim rather than paint it or have it powder coated. Paint and powder coating are permanent decisions; a wrap is not. If you lease the vehicle, or expect to sell it to someone who wants the chrome, you can put it back exactly as it left the factory.
It also means you can change your mind about the finish. Going from gloss black to satin is a matter of rewrapping the same pieces.
Our shop is right here in Clovis, so yes, this is home turf. We also get plenty of chrome delete customers driving over from Fresno, which is only a short trip. Most chrome deletes take one to three days, so it's a drop-off job either way.
If you are thinking about changing the color of the whole vehicle rather than just the trim, that is car wraps in Clovis.
Normally, once the vinyl has settled for a few days.
Two things to avoid. Do not aim a pressure washer straight at the edge of a wrapped piece, because a narrow jet at close range is one of the few things that can work its way under an edge. And skip automatic brush washes, which are hard on any wrapped surface and will dull a satin or matte finish over time.
Hand washing with a normal car soap is all it needs. Matte and satin finishes should not be waxed or polished, because both will add gloss to a finish that is supposed to have none.
Gloss, satin and matte black cover almost every request, and they look quite different on the car.
Gloss black reads like factory black trim and is the safest choice on a car that already has gloss paint. Satin is the middle ground and the most popular, because it stands apart from the paint without looking flat. Matte is the flattest of the three and the most striking, though it shows fingerprints around door handles.
We carry other finishes as well, so if you have something else in mind, ask. Coming by the shop in Clovis and seeing the three blacks side by side on a real panel settles it faster than any photo will.
Not quickly. We use vinyl rated for exterior use and wrap the edges so heat and sun cannot get underneath and start lifting it.
A car that sits outside all year through Clovis summers will age faster than a garaged one, which is true of paint as well. Expect years rather than months.
The useful part is that trim is wrapped piece by piece. If one panel eventually looks tired, that single piece can be redone without touching the rest of the car, which is not something you can say about a paint job.
