What is the darkest legal tint for a Tesla in California?

The law is the same for a Tesla as for anything else and it depends on the window. Front side windows must let at least 70% of light through, so film on factory glass needs to be around 88% VLT or higher. Rear side windows and the rear glass have no darkness limit as long as the car has dual side mirrors, which is why 20% and 5% are the usual picks for the back half. The windshield can only be tinted in the top four inches above the AS-1 line and must be non-reflective. Red, amber and blue films are prohibited statewide.
