How soon after buying a new car should I get it coated?

As soon as you can. New paint is in its best condition, so little or no correction is needed first, which keeps the cost down and gets the coating bonded before its first Central Valley summer. If the car already has some miles on it we'll check whether it needs correcting before we coat it.

Will tinting my headlights make them too dim at night?

A light or medium shade changes the look noticeably with only a modest reduction in output. Very dark films do cut brightness in a way you'll feel on unlit roads.
