Will I get pulled over for 5 tint in California?

It depends entirely on which windows have 5% tint. If it's your rear side windows and rear windshield, you're completely legal, even in Fresno, and have nothing to worry about.

If your front side windows have 5% tint, yes, you can absolutely be pulled over. Front windows must allow 70% light transmission, making 5% up front one of the most obvious violations an officer will spot. Fresno law enforcement and CHP officers carry tint meters and can measure your VLT on the spot during any traffic stop.

Do I need an appointment or do you take walk-ins?

Should I do anything to my car beforehand?

Yes, we recommend giving your car a basic exterior wash before your appointment. This helps us avoid rubbing dry dirt or dust into the paint when working on your vehicle, which can cause scratching. It also makes it easier for us to get great photos of your car when it’s all done.

Do you have financing options?

Yes. We offer buy now, pay later options through providers like Affirm, Afterpay, and others, so you can split your purchase into easy payments. Just ask us for more details when booking.

Do you work on all types of vehicles?

We work on nearly all types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, Teslas, luxury, and exotic cars. It’s rare that we come across something we can’t work on, but if you have a unique vehicle, feel free to reach out and we’ll be happy to confirm.

Are tinted headlights legal in California?

California does have rules covering headlight and taillight tinting. Headlights must emit white or yellow light and taillights must show red, so anything that changes the color or cuts the output too far is a problem.

The films we install are classified as protection films with a slight shade rather than a color-changing tint, which is what keeps them legal in California.

How far you go still matters. A light or medium shade changes the look with only a modest reduction in output, while very dark films noticeably cut brightness on unlit roads. How long after PPF can I wash my car?

Wait a full seven days after the application before washing your car. That gives the film time to fully cure and bond to the paint.

After that you can wash normally with a pH-neutral soap. Avoid abrasive brushes, harsh chemicals and automatic car washes, which are hard on the edges of the film.

Can you take a car with a ceramic coat through a car wash?

No, it’s best to avoid automated car washes if you have a ceramic-coated vehicle. Automated car washes use recycled water and low-quality brushes that can rub dirt and grit along the ceramic coating, damaging it. It’s best to stick to handwashing only for ceramic-coated vehicles.

Does the film protect my lights as well as darken them?

Yes. It's a protective layer as well as a shade, so it takes the rock chips and sandblasting that would otherwise hit the lens itself. On a car covering a lot of highway miles, that protection is often worth as much as the look is.

How should I wash a wrapped car?

Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap and skip automatic brush washes, which scuff vinyl and can lift edges. Keep a pressure washer away from the seams. Wash regularly rather than letting dirt bake on, because Central Valley sun and dust are harder on a wrap than the washing is.

What's the difference between a ceramic coating and PPF?

They solve different problems, and most customers who are serious about protecting a car end up doing both. Paint protection film is the one that gives you actual physical protection. It is a thick, self-healing urethane film, around 8 mil, that absorbs impact before it reaches your paint. Rock chips, scratches and road debris are what it is for, and it is the only one of the two that will genuinely stop a chip. A ceramic coating is only a few microns thick, roughly a hundred times thinner than film, and it works chemically rather than physically. Its real strength is maintenance: it makes the car far easier to wash and dry, and it resists UV, oxidation, bird droppings, sap and chemical etching while adding noticeable depth and gloss. What it will not do is stop a rock. So film protects the paint and a coating protects the finish while making the car much easier to look after. The most popular way to get both is a hybrid package: film across the front end, where almost all the rock chips actually happen, and a ceramic coating over the rest of the car. Plenty of customers also have us coat over the film itself, so the whole vehicle beads and cleans the same way. Tell us how you use the car and we will tell you which combination is worth it.

Can you tint the windows on our fleet vehicles too?

Yes, and the sensible time to do it is while the vehicle is already with us for the wrap. That way it comes off the road once rather than twice. It is worth doing on work vehicles. A van or truck sitting in Central Valley heat all day is genuinely unpleasant to drive, and ceramic film cuts the infrared heat that makes the cab uncomfortable rather than just darkening the glass. It also keeps UV off the interior, which matters on vehicles that live outdoors rather than in a garage. Mention it when you request your wrap quote and we will price the two together.

What's the difference between a dealership coating and a professional coating?

The product matters far less than the preparation, and that is where the two differ. A coating sold as a dealership add-on is usually applied quickly, often as part of lot prep, to paint that has not been decontaminated or corrected. There is rarely time for a clay bar, an iron decontamination or any paint correction, and the car often goes straight back out into the sun. Applied that way a coating bonds poorly and seals in whatever swirls were already in the paint. Our process takes the car for a day or more. Full wash and dry, clay bar treatment, iron and fallout decontamination, panel prep, paint correction if it needs it, then the coating goes on in a controlled environment with proper time to cure before the car leaves. Because the surface is genuinely clean and level, the coating bonds the way it is designed to. You can see the difference in the water: it beads harder and tighter, and it keeps doing it for a lot longer. The other difference is what happens afterwards. Ours carries a 3-year warranty as standard with a 5-year option, and there is an annual maintenance visit at $120 where we wash the car, check the beading panel by panel and reapply wherever it has dropped off. Worth asking what the dealership's coating is warrantied for and who maintains it.

How soon after buying a new car should I get it coated?

As soon as you can. New paint is usually in its best condition, so there is generally less correction needed first, which keeps the cost down and means the finish is protected from day one. That said, brand new does not automatically mean flawless. Transport, dealer prep and a quick wash on the lot can all leave swirls behind, and we find them regularly. Defects only really show on a clean car under good light, whether that is natural daylight or the lighting in our shop. On a dusty car under a showroom ceiling you will not see them at all. The best thing to do is bring the car by before you book anything, clean if you can. We will look the paint over properly, tell you honestly whether it needs correcting first, and recommend what it actually needs rather than the biggest package.
